# Overview and Vision

## What Solo is

Solo is a privacy-preserving Proof of Humanity protocol. It verifies that the party behind a digital action is a living, unique human, without requiring government ID, storing biometric data, or relying on specialized hardware.

Solo separates humanity from legal identity. A platform does not need to know a user’s name, nationality, passport number, or private identity profile to know whether a real human is present. Solo proves the narrower and more useful fact: one real human is here, counted once.

> Solo proves humanity and uniqueness without exposing identity by default.

## Why Solo exists

The internet was built on an assumption that one account roughly meant one person. That assumption is now broken. Bots, Sybil farms, account markets, and generative AI can imitate human-like activity at scale.

When platforms cannot tell whether an input came from a real human, the value of that input collapses. Data can be contaminated, rewards can be farmed, votes can be distorted, and reputation systems can be abandoned by creating a new account.

## What Solo proves

<table><thead><tr><th width="159.6328125">Proof property</th><th>Meaning</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Humanity</strong></td><td>The action is being performed by a living human, not a bot or synthetic session.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Uniqueness</strong></td><td>The human is counted once within the relevant platform, campaign, task, or policy context.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Presence</strong></td><td>The human is present at the moment proof is requested, including during a session when re-verification is enabled.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Privacy</strong></td><td>The platform receives proof of humanity, not raw biometric data or a default legal identity profile.</td></tr></tbody></table>

## Core principles

Solo is built to help platforms enforce one real human per relevant account, claim, vote, task, or session.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Credible Anonymity</strong></td><td>A user can be accountable to a system as a unique human without revealing legal identity to the world.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Biological Firewall</strong></td><td>Solo blocks synthetic accounts, duplicate users, and bot swarms at the point where verified human presence is required.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Humanity Layer</strong></td><td>Solo is infrastructure that other products can depend on when they need the fact of real human presence to be reliable.</td></tr></tbody></table>

## Vision

Solo’s long-term vision is to make proof of humanity a standard internet primitive: checked where needed, invisible where possible, and strong enough that platforms can rebuild trust in data, rewards, identity-light services, and human-in-the-loop systems.

The first layer is Proof of Humanity. Over time, the same foundation can support private reputation, anonymous credentials, and trust-based digital economies where users can build history without surrendering identity by default.
